Summer ’03 is a “Must Watch” on Amazon

Summer ’03 is hilarious and very real. There are definitely some very cringey moments which I usually don’t like but it works here. I also love that its a movie with a female lead and director. I definitely cried during this movie but I’m not sure if it was the emotions or from laughter.

Avengers: Endgame. Spoiler free reaction

Avengers: Endgame is finally here. I HATE spoilers so I went out of my way to talk about the movie without talking about the movie in this spoiler free review.

The Silence review: I’ve seen this movie before

There are a lot of minor goofy flaws that make The Silence hard to enjoy on top of the similarities to other recent films. Overall, it’s not as good as A Quiet Place but still has some tense moments to make it watchable.

Us is no Get Out, but that’s a good thing

Don’t worry about looking for deeper messages. Us is a good, original, horror story with an amazing performance from Lupita Nyong’o and the child actors. It was fun to see Jordan Peele make a horror movie without it needing to be some groundbreaking feat. The twist left me feeling some sort of way but I can’t exactly put it into words.

Captain Marvel was 3 movies in 1

To me, Captain Marvel felt like 3 movies mashed into one. The story of her finding her way as a Kree soldier, reuniting with an old friend back on Earth and learning the story of her past, then the unleashing of her real power. Marvel was playing catch-up and they did a decent job.

Shazam is the best DCEU movie- but not as family friendly as advertised.

Shazam starts off by immediately stripping away the sense of security the trailers gave you with an intense scene that lets you know the PG-13 rating was warranted. From there, most of the movie is fun and light. The characters are great (some side characters will be your favorites), you’ll be pulling for the hero, and the villains are terrifying at times. Overall, it’s a fun movie and I can’t wait for the sequel.

Netflix’s first Nollywood film: Lionheart Review

Though the story itself is familiar, there is a certain power to the story being told from another perspective. It was also great to see a side of Africa represented in this film that most don’t have the opportunity to see. I also need to see more Genevieve Nnaji in the years to come.

Netflix Review: IO

It’s an isolation movie and isolation movies are a great way to dive deep into a character and make the audience live and die with their every move. IO did not do that and by the end I really didn’t care what happened to either of our two characters. The “twists” were obvious and held no weight. I don’t know what I was supposed to get from it.

Hulu Review: Down

Down is a movie that does a good job of not being cheesy or making you question its characters decisions often. The shifting power dynamic between the two main characters is what stood out the most. I definitely enjoyed this one.

Velvet Buzzsaw review: It doesn’t speak to me

I am a huge Jake Gyllenhaal fan and supporter so when I saw he had a movie coming out on Netflix I marked my calendar. I’m also a horror fan so combining these two worlds meant Velvet Buzzsaw was sure to be a big hit for me.

I was wrong.
