Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark was more creepy than scary though it did have its moments. Throughout the movie I couldn’t help but feel like I was watching a ghostly version of Final Destination.

Yesterday was a lot of fun to watch (Review)
Yesterday was just as fun as the trailer makes it out to be. There is a romance story line that I don’t really care for but besides that it’s a fun ride with great acting and great humor throughout.
Crawl Review: More than a Natural Disaster Movie
Crawl was an intense movie from start to finish and takes you into the heart of a hurricane before trapping you in a crawl space with large reptiles. Though that’s the main point to the movie, the family story line was a nice surprise.
Into the Dark: Culture Shock (Hulu)
Culture Shock at points is hard to follow. It’s starts out confusing, then becomes clear, then takes a surprising hard turn. For a while in the middle you will be very lost. I almost gave up on it during this period but when the reveal came I understood what was happening. Overall, I liked the idea by the end, just think it could have been executed differently.
Midsommar… is not for everyone
If you saw Hereditary, think back to the last 30 minutes of the movie, then stretch that out over 2 hours. If you didn’t see Hereditary, Midsommar is a beautifully shot film that is 2 hours of dread within a peaceful (looking) setting. There are a lot of shocking/upsetting moments that will stick with you long after the movie ends. Again, it’s beautiful though!
Someone Great Review: Romantic Dramedy?
Someone Great has a lot of very deep, very real, and moving moments throughout. While the drug use was a bit much for me the chemistry between the ladies and the themes that are addressed in the movie made it a solid watch.
Bib’s Top 10 Movies of 2019 (So Far)
Halfway through 2019 I’ve seen 40 movies (a bit behind the pace for 100 but the draft took over for a bit there) and I wanted to give some indication of where I’m at with my top movies of the year. I’ve watched everything from Blockbuster theatrical releases to VOD indies and my top 10 should reflect a range of different mediums. I don’t discriminate.
The Perfection is a new contender for worst of 2019
Don’t waste your time on this movie unless you just want to see pretty women be crazy in ways that don’t make sense.
Brightburn review: A new super-villain is born
Brightburn has a lot of similarities to The Prodigy. I liked the movie and the family dynamic is similar: scared dad, protective mom. It was way more graphic than I expected but overall, I really enjoyed it.
Hulu Review: I’m just F*cking with You
I’m just F*cking with You starts out as online troll meets real life troll and quickly gets out of control. A wild ride of a movie that has great pacing and twists that will keep your attention. I enjoyed it.
