Missing Link was interesting. It almost didn’t feel like a children’s movie at times and has a lot of violence, specifically gun violence. There was a political message about the elite, racism, and sexism and a very progressive moment at the end. There is also a strong message for kids though.

Gemini Man combines aspects of two of my favorite action films
The story reminded me somewhat of The Bourne Identity. One man with special skills vs. a corrupt government agency. The action scenes, especially between the Smiths Will, were reminiscent of the Bucky vs. Cap fight scenes in Winter Soldier. Overall, it was a fun action movie. Didn’t change the game but didn’t break anything either.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (review)
I liked it. They were able to tie up some loose ends and bring back that signature Breaking Bad style. I’d imagine most fans of the show were pleased, even if they weren’t blown away. It does nothing to take away from the show which was my main concern.
NBA Draft: Revisiting the class of 2013
An entire year late but today we look back at my scouting report from the 2013 NBA draft. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
In the Tall Grass takes a few too many turns
In the Tall Grass has an interesting premise that seems simple enough. You get caught up in the mystery for a while but once the answers begin to be realized the story takes a bit too long to conclude. The end will leave you with something interesting to debate with friends or family though.
Hoop is an artistic telling of a Hoop Dreams story
I went into Hoop with certain expectations and spent most of the movie feeling like the vision wasn’t being executed. However, when the final credits rolled I realized that Robert did execute his vision for the story he was telling. It was just a story you aren’t meant to understand until the very last word.
So I reluctantly saw Joker… (review)
After sitting through the 2 hour duration of Joker I feel justified in my initial thoughts about its existence. I didn’t really learn anything new about the character and there wasn’t really anything incredible about the way the story is told. The Joker is a well known character and was the centerpiece of a movie that has made it to the Final round of my greatest movie of all time tournament.
The Hole in the Ground will creep you out
The Hole in the Ground is a fun movie for sure. While this is a movie where the main character makes frustrating decisions, the payoff is still there. There are some effectively creepy moments and there is very little that is predictable.
Scooter: New found footage thriller
“The Three Amigoes” are popular youtubers who do challenges on their channel. They’ve been friends all of their lives and get to make money together by just being goofy online. In Scooter, they take on a challenge that is much bigger than anything they’ve done before as they will try to ride low powered scooters from Miami to New Orleans. Over 800 miles. I’m not sure they even made it out of Florida.
I think the hype ruined Booksmart for me
While I don’t want to REALLY make the comparison I have to. Booksmart was essentially a woman led version of Superbad with smarter leads. The style of comedy, the adventure aspect, all of it. While there was more story here, that’s the best way to describe what you’re getting into.
